Earthquake in Sichuan Province, China
All of us at CIGNA International are deeply saddened by the loss of life and devastation wrought in Sichuan Province in China. Our thoughts are with residents of communities affected by the earthquake and its aftermath, who face a long and difficult recovery. CIGNA International is committed to helping our members in impacted areas receive the care and services they need during this difficult time.
Our employees on the ground in China are indicating that access to medical facilities in Chengdu has been limited due to structural damage and a major hospital has collapsed. The Chinese authorities have been telling non-nationals to contact their local embassies or consulates for assistance. Mobile phones are working but with spotty and inconsistent service.
Our contact center staff, in conjunction with our medical team, is prepared to assist members and their families with requests for:
- Financial assistance
- Medical monitoring
- Medically indicated evacuations
- Guarantees of payment to providers
- Lost passport and travel document assistance
- Emergency message transmission
- Assistance with emergency travel arrangements
- Repatriation of mortal remains
- Counseling services
For immediate assistance please call us at 800.441.2668 or collect at 302.797.3100, access permitting.
